Supported Work Placement
More About the Offer
Barnardo’s is the UK’s largest children’s charity, we support hundreds of thousands of children, young people and families across the UK through our network of localised services and we also have a retail department with over 600 shops.
To help young people who have left care, practice and develop new skills, gain confidence and meet new people in a supportive environment, we are offering a 4-8 week work experience placement supported by a personal mentor. These voluntary placements, in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), are available in a selected number of our retail stores across England.
To help young people leaving care into employment, Barnardo’s will from time to time have vacancies which will require the applicant to have had care experience. We also have a range of volunteering opportunities, which enable care leavers to develop and explore an area of work that is of interest. Volunteering also enables new skills to be acquired, increases confidence, makes use of free time, whilst and improving future employment and learning opportunities.
